16th Annual Run

Sweet Sixteen

At the Inter-Club Fund's Annual Motorcycle Awards Presentation on Saturday, February 15, 2003, the Golden Gate Guards 16th Annual Run, "Sweet Sixteen", won the 2002 Northern California Awards for

  • Best Run
  • Best Food on a Run
  • Best Bike Events on a Run
  • Best Buddy Events on a Run

Jack Goodall, 2002 Road Captain for the Golden Gate Guards, exclaimed, "Wow! This is a real surprise! With the tremendous success of the other runs this year, the competition was very stiff... I heard lots of positive feedback from our guests at our run, and I guess they voted accordingly! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this run so sweet... and to the Phoenix Uniform Club for their turntable which really helped to make the Bike and Buddy Events more fun and competitive!"

Lou Grosso, 2002 President of the Golden Gate Guards, said, "Our committees, members and friends always work very hard to put on a superb event... We do it for our guests, and to have fun ourselves, too. In fact, my last pep talk to the troops before the guests began arriving was 'Get out there and have a good time... Remember, when we have fun, our guests have fun!' I know I had a ball, and I guess our guests did too!"

Helping everyone have a good time was Dick Manning, Food Chairman for the Sweet Sixteen Run. Dick and his Food Committee had the responsibility of feeding all of us for the entire weekend, and feed us they did! The food was spectacular, as is evident by the Best Food on a Run Award! After the Sweet Sixteen Run, Dick said, "The Food Committee for Sweet Sixteen had a great time planning and working together... We have already met and agreed that we want to keep the same committee together for next year's run!"

So, what can you expect in 2003?  More of the same!  Not only from the Food Committee, but from all the Golden Gate Guards as we proudly present "Mooo en Rouge" October 3-5, 2003.
