Springtime In Yosemite
2008

The 23rd annual Springtime In Yosemite run was hosted by the Golden Gate Guards and the Warriors M/C on May 16 - 18, 2008. Forty-two people ventured to El Portal to the Yosemite View Lodge right next to the Merced River.  Due to a major rockslide between Mariposa and El Portal, highway 140 still has the one-lane detour.  It appears that two new permanent bridges will be constructed across the Merced river instead of trying to remove the tons and tons of rock from the old roadway.  Much roadwork is also being done inside the park to fix the eroded portions of highway 120/140.  This area is also one-lane with 30 to 45 minute delays even on the weekends.

The highlight of Saturday's park tour was Glacier Point.  The view was spectacular and all the waterfalls were quite full from the melting snow.  Due to warm weather, shorts felt great even at the 8000 ft. elevation of Glacier Point.

Jim Yarbrough brewed a batch of his famous beef stew on Friday night.  On Saturday evening the Warriors M/C spoiled everyone with drinks and hors d'vours.  After happy hour, the group devoured New York Steaks barbequed by Phil Garabedian.  About 18 people went back to the park on Sunday for brunch at the Awahnee Hotel.  As always the buffet was excellent with lots of different items to choose.

Below are some pictures taken by Jerome Olds, independent from Riverside, during Springtime In Yosemite 2008.  Registration is now open for our 22nd Annual Run, SUPERHEROS, on October 3 - 5 in Mendocino.  Be sure to join us for another exciting weekend.
